Jericho/Fao

From one of our Dominican partners:

Jerico School is located in Batey Fao, this community is in the town of Guerra, located in East Santo Domingo, it was surrounded by cane plantations since it started as a colony of cane. In 1980 this place started to grow with inhabitants when the cane market built a canyon which would cheer the workers and the laborers of the Council of State of Sugar, giving a way to the “palatines of the inhabitants of Batey”.

Today Batey Fao already has a population of approximately 500 houses. The community has a Chapel and Churches of diverse religions, it has a gas station, a hardware store, a furniture store, small pharmacies, grocery stores, several inhabitants have day-to-day jobs, families are composed by both parents or single mothers.
