Filadelfia/Cristo Ray

From one of our Dominican partners:

Filadelfia School is located in the Community of Cristo Rey, it is one of the most populous neighborhoods in Santo Domingo; most of families have informal or day-to-day jobs, some of them are composed by both parents and their children but most families are built with single mothers.

Cristofer Guzman

Meet Cristofer Guzman. He is a student of Filadelfia and is in 6th grade, he lives with his mother, step father and siblings; he is the third child and there is a total of are 6 people living at his house. Thanks God and to the program of Mika’s Lunch his siblings and him are able to receive lunch everyday although his mother is not at home due to the fact that she leaves the house to do some work to get paid, since she does not have a steady job. Cristofer and his family are very grateful with this program.

Ana Jarolyn Sicard

Another example from this Community is the one from Ana Jarolyn Sicard, she is 10 years old and is the second child of three siblings, they live with her single mother who is not working, the child states she would like to study in Filadelfia but her mother does not have the resources to pay for the tuition fee. Thanks to the food project her siblings, mother and her are able to receive their lunch everyday. Mika’s Lunch is a gift from God to them.
